Rights of Way

These pages provide a brief guide to the Public Rights of Way of the parish of Woolstone.

The parish is bounded to the east by the parish of Uffington. To the west and north are the parishes of Compton Beauchamp and Longcot respectively. To the south is the Oxfordshire county boundary and the parish of Lambourn in Berkshire. Viewed on a map the parish appears "tall and thin"; extending roughly four and three quarter miles from north to south, the parish is never wider than one mile from west to east. You can download a map of the parish showing the rights of way by clicking here.

Most of the rights of way within the parish are a continuation of rights of way extending from neighbouring parishes. The most well known of these are: (i) the Ridgeway, and (ii) the D' Arcy Dalton Way. The Ridgeway crosses through the parish (RUPP 3) at its highest point: White Horse Hill. The D' Arcy Dalton Way passes through the north western part of the parish for a mile or so (FP 7, FP 10), eventually finishing at Waylands Smithy.
